Since our first knowledge of this paper, we have had n high opinión of its talent and usefulness, and vnlued our ncquaintance with its fonner editor. We are also pleased with our introduction to S. M. Booth, who has recently removed fiom New Haven, Connecticut, and nssumed the editorial department of the A. Freeman. We like its courteous, yet fearless tone and manner of expressing opinionsIt most certainjy wears the bold and dauntless front ot a refonrier, and will, we doubt not, nchieve much in the great nnd glorious work in which it is engaged. On some points we miiy differ somewhat f rom our friend and fellow-laborer, the Freeman, but in the maiu we agree. We were particulmly pleased with tlie sentiment - " We shall oppnse no measure because anothttr party prnposed it" - " What is righttn nny, oriill, we shiill approve, what is wrong, condemn" - " It is tho deeds, and not the professionsof a man which reveul his true character ;" and we sincerely hope our friend's scruples with reference to ƒ. P. Hale, will soon depart, we think they ought to give way before such tests as he has given during his senatorial course. He has staown a most uncomproinising spirit to all wrong and oppression, notwithstanding the force which was arrnyed agiiinst him, heaping upon him every kind of invective and abuse, tlmt pnwerful talent, propelled by indi jnation could suggest. But amidst all he stood firm and unwavering. We think he here manifested a " frank avowal of his positionand principies," which ought to be satisfactery. Tho Freeman is also interested nnd engaged in the other great reforms of the day, Teinperance, Peace, &c. We very much like its views with regard to Kducation, Literature, and other great subjects which the liniits of this notice will not nllow us to mention. It has our bost wishes for its success and influence. VW We ngíiin cali upon the gentlomen composing the State Central Committee, to specify some time and place for holding a kiiiss Convention of the Liberty Party for this State. This should speedily be nttended to. It will have n tendency to awaken nri increased interest and enthusiasm in the glorious cause of "Liberty, Equality and Fruternity."
