The Senate met on the 8lh, but, without do inganything morethan disp osing of some routine business, adjourned lili Monday. The House met on Friday and Saturday, but the want of a quorum each day.sooncompelled an adjournmenl. Monday, June 12th, in the Senate, Mr. Hamlin of Maine, took his seat as Senator. Petitions, of no general interest, were presented, and some uriimportant resolutinns were sulmitted. A resolution to print 30,000 cop ies of the agricultural portion of the report of the Commissioner of Patents, and 5,000 copies of the rest of the report, after much discussion, was adopted - yeas 23, nays 15. A joint resolution, from the House, authorising the ndjournment of Congresss on the 17th day of July, was raad the first time. A resolution to meet every day at 12 o'clock, vas rejected. - The Senate then took np the bilí making approriations to the Indian Department, but, before any aclion thereon, went nito Executive session. House. - David Wallace, Representative in the place of Mr. Black, of Soutli Carolina, took his seat. A joint resolution, to adjourn Congress on the 17tli July, was adopted. The House agreed to a proposition te-minating debate orí the Navy Appropriation Bill, and proceeded to the vote in Commirtee of the Whole on the state of the Union, (Mr. Thompson, of Indiana in the chair,) after two hours discussion of the qiieslion of the power of Congress to legislate for Territories, by Mr. Pettit and Mr. Sidney Lawrence. Sundry amendments, reported from the Committce of Ways and Means, were adopted in Committee of' the Whole; but the Committee rose without coming to any conclusión, and at 4 o'clock the House adjourned. Sbnate, June 13. - The Senate was employed chiefly in discussingsome questions coticerning the payment of horses lost in the Mexican war ; the aids of General Cass not having yet returned from New York. House. - After disposing of routine business, the Housfl resolved itself into Committee of the Whole on the state of the Unioi;, and took np the Naval Appropriation Bill. - Severa! amendments were moved, the bill was reported to the House, which h'nally passed it. E On Thursday a bil! was passed in the Asssembly of Connecticnt, h which all slavery is forever abolisheti in that State. No law completely abolisliing slavery had prfivionsly existed n Connecticut, and there are at pres ent 6omo eihl or ten slaves in the State, who by the provisions of the act are entitled to a support f rom their former masters.
