In the coursH of thetr remarks on the subject, 1 was told ihat if it were proposed to the poojile of the United States to part with a portion of their territory in order that XÏto Inquisilion should be tliercin established, the proposal co'd not excite stronger fcelings of aiihoruence, llian those awakened in Mexico by the prospect of the ititroduclion of Slavery in any territory parted wilh by her. Our conversation on thu topic was perfectly frank.
