Grass Lake,Sept. 4, 1841. Messks Editors : - Fceling that it might bc gratifying to ihe friend3 of Libertj, to hear of the prosperity ofour noble entorpiise, I feel it my duty to give a short account of what we are doing in Grass La]keJand ts vicinity. Fccling the importance of doing something íor our cause in this vicinity. Mr. L. H. Jones, (a young convcrt to independent political uction,) and myselfconcluded tohold meetings in each school district in this town, and Iccture abroad as often as circumstances would permit. We have had two meetings in this town, both of which have been well atiended. Last evening we lectured in Sharon. Although the evening was rainy the people turned out nobly to hear, and listened with profound attention for more than an hour, while I presented briefly o moral view of the subject, and the ascendency of the slavo power n the natinn. Afier which Mr. Jones ocr.upied about the samo length of time, in exhihiling the course pursued by the general government, to defend and perpetúate the institution of slavery. He also presented a most vivid picture of the blighting influence of the slave power upon tho Commercial and fínancial interests of the norlh. it was conclusively shown that the present pecuniary embnrrassment of the country, was justly chnrgcable upon the villainy, swindling, and bankruptcy of the South, and was the legitímate oflápring of the slavo power over the nation. At the close, we obtained eight subscribers for the extra Signal. A great interest is feit on the subject wherever we gn, which will teil at ihe approaching election. We have pressing invitationa f rom the friends of the cause in other plncos to jo and lecture. We feel that our cause is Hesiined speedily to tnumph. Could not s similar interest be exerted in every lown in the State, if our frienda woulil only grasp the sword of truih and enter the field? Truth is omnipotent and will prevail. Our blossed cause commendn itself to every man1s conscienco, nnd thoso who enlist under its consecrated banners, will gain to themselves a crown that will infinitely transcend in value, the gold of Ophir, or the woalth of Crccsus. Future goneraiiona will riso up and cali them blessed. Let us presa forward wilh a becoming zeal in this noble enterprise. - We highly approvo the noble stand taken by the Signal, on the subject of political nctinn. nnd hono it will continue to showtho utter hopelessness of realiziog any good to our cause from eitherof tho othe; parties, and the absoluto necessity of conoing out from thom, lest we bc partakers of their iniquity. We heartily concur wi'Ji the central committee of tho State Snriety in the importanco of calling a senes of State Conventions, and hope the measure will bo carried into efiect; if 80, we of Grasa Lake, will be on hand, and show ourselves valiant for truth and liberty. - We 8end you eighteen subscribers i'or tho extra, all obtained during the present
