Poetry: Liberty, 'Tis A Delightful Sound
Liberty, 'lis a delightful souncl, Spreading hope and comfort all arourul, It cheers our spirits, removes our fears, And strenglnens us in declining years. May th8 precions boon be ahrays oure, May we be blest wÃth heaven's richest showers, But may wo neyer dere to witbhold, Th'i3 moat precious boon from young or oÃd. O, how can wo daré to enslavo Tbe soul wiiich Christ has died to save? Or wby should we scorn the colorod raco And give them from us a sepárale place? Did not tbe same God créate us all? Aro we not all einners since tlic fall? Is not the God that feeds Afric'à sons The eame tbat protects the fairest ones? 'The land of the free, the borae of tha brave Shonld never darc its sons to enslave, The star spangled banner should never wave O'er the head of an American slave. But ah! how oft have we heárd the cry, And hov oft have we been made to stgh, At the piercing sbrieks of colored e.'aves, Uorne to us on every breeze and wave.
