Duty Of Ministers
-Old John Adams understood well the duties of the pulpit. - In a letter addressed to his wife, dated, Philadelphia, July 7, 1774, he inquires,- "Does Mr. Willbind preach against oppression and the other cardinal vices of the times? Tell him the clergy here of every denomination, not excepting the Episcopalian, thunder and lighten every Sabbath!"
