We wouldcall the alieniion of our readers to the doings ofihis society, whïfch we publish to-day. We liad the pleasure of participating in the dehberations of Ihis Society at its !ate annul meeling. The number in attendance was not largo, but they were "simon pure'1 - men dceply devoled to the cause of God, and the rightsof the oppressed. Thcir inotio was 'firát ruuE, then peaceable." The discussions broughtout by the resolutions that were introduced, were of the most interesting charactcr, showing the connection of tho church with slavery, and the duty of all who love God, and desire the propperity of Zion, lo labor incessantly for the overthrow of the vilest system of cruelty and opprussion that ever saw the sun- American Slavery. Tney followed in the wake of the Worid's Convention, in withdrawing nll christian fellowship from those who continue in the practice of slaveholding. The Missionary Society, having no connection with slavery, which was recommnoded by the meeling and the organizatiuii uf which waa commenced pursuant to a cali fur that purpose, mmediateiy after the adjwurnment - we think will meet with the approbation of the anti slavery friendo in this State. And those who have long refused to give of their substance to the oldsocieties will now cheerfully contribute to the new organiz ition, with the entire belief that theiroffering is not ming'ed wiih the price of blood. We are cxceedingly rejoiced lo be able lo recuid the fact, ihat Methodist ablitionism is on the advance in this State. Thia is a large and respectablo denominaiion of Christians, and shouldhey as a body talco ho!d in earnest of the cause of eraanciation ihe vile system of luvery would receive a shcck from whieh t would never recover. VVe felt while ittending the meeting of this society that he spirit of the sainted Wtsley was hovering around us, and had he been permited to speak he would have aaid, Go on in he uatue of God, I say go on, uniil the hurch culled by my name is pure from the shocking abomination of slavery, and the world redceiried from its deíidliest curse.
