Since writing the above. wo learn that the measure has been propo6ed and voted downby a vote of 55 to 9. A motion to receive and indefinitely postpone the petitions, was lost- ayea 6- noes 57. A motion was made to refer thera to a select committee, pending which the Hou&e adjourned.
