-In the Ohio Houseof Representatives, Mr. Byington gave noticc that he would offer an amendment to the Rules of the House, to require all aboli tion petitions to ba laid on Ihe table when preaented, without being read, printed or Teferred. The aboütionist will be perfectly willing to meet an issue of that kind in the state legislaturas. Since writing the above. wo learn that the measure has been propo6ed and voted downby a vote of 55 to 9. A motion to receive and indefinitely postpone the petitions, was lost- ayea 6- noes 57. A motion was made to refer thera to a select committee, pending which the Hou&e adjourned.
