The Gerard Valley Anti-Slavery Meeting was held agreeably to nppointment, on the Mh uit. The assembly waslarge, and the discus - siona and addreèses very interesting. Our correspondent was bo unwell as to prevent his giving the full account we should otherwise have expected; He raentions Rev. Mr. Jeffrey) as one of the mo6t earnest and eloquent speakers. The Reverend gentleman'a addresB was responded to with loud applause. He dwelt upon the wrongs inflicted on the eons and daughtero of África - upon the cruel treatment of the slaves- declaring it woree than that which was rendered to the brute creation. Mr. Jeffrty declared it 1o be his Boleuin uurpose to identify hirnselr with the elave. He would, he eaid, use all his influence to repel the injuries every were iniHcied upon this much nbused race. - I He eaw in the countenances of those wlio were listemng, that they were also determined to labor with him in the glorioua cauae. Mr. J. assured thern that there were friends at the norih who had organized themselves for the overthrow of slavery, and were now caliing on U8 to help thern. He called upon his Lta.ers to join in tliis ,ork of putting uowi slavery in our lund. The Reverend gentleman said thct he was aure that a brighter and more gl(rious day was dawning.
