1HE lul nors ol this Journal, wish to cali puDüc atteniion to the (act that they will hereafter, onthe conditioat, statcd bclow, frank tlie nos. to all of their subseribers who reccive the work mKECTLT from them by mail. Their object i ii making this offer, is to place those persons who are so situated that they cannot take the work through n agent, a nd therefore nee of charge of transportation, on the same fooling in this respect with city subscribers. Subscibers by mail have heretoiore paid from $1 to $1.3? perannum forpost age. which has been a suíficien consideraron to nduce tnany to decline taking the work. Now liat this objection is remuved, upon the simple condition of punctual remittance, the Ediors confidently hope that the number of their nail subscribers will be much increased: and they makeno apology to their present supporter and contributors, fnr asking their nssislance in aiding heni to siiBtain this experiment, by making this lotice more public, and by inducmg their fiïends o subscribe, Experience has proved that the mail is by far he besi means of conveyance to distant subscriers, the mostsure and most speedy; and all atempts to establish agencies ot a distance and a vay f om the great lines oi transportaron have utterly fuiled - delay and dissatisfaction and often abandonment of the work being theresult. The American Journal of Science and Arts is published at New Haven, Conneclicut. Each ïumber contains at least 200 pages, closcly and ïandsomely printed on good paper, 'aud fully ilustrated by engravings. The subsciption is $6 n auvance, by mail. The extra dollar beyond he usual price of the literary quarterliesis inispensable, on account of a more limited pat ronagc and the great expense of engravings. Reniittanccs should be made if possible in eastern money, but if that cannot bc obtained, the jest bilis which can be had may be substituted, and no discount will be charged upon them.
