The publishers sny: In politics it will advocate the principies of the Libkrty Party - which principies are enibraccd tn four words, Equal Liberty, Impartía r. Laws. We are much pleased with the first number. and anticipóte that the Gazette will be an able and fearless coadjutor in our enterprize. The Adveriiser says: "For ourselves we are deicrmined to resist the preponderating influence heretofore excrted by the South, in the go vdnment of this Union." We have no fhult to find with thie determination. "But it will be obseded tliat t'ic Adveni ■ ser does not sny and xcxll notsny. "We are detcr ;rnned to resist tho preponderating influencr heretofore exerted by the Slave Power of thp Souih in this nation." O no! the said Advertiser, after the fall clsctions are over, mny find i' convenient to advocate the claims of onc Hen y riay, a slaveholder, to the Presidency. It chirria nov U) be A7iti-South. but neilhor is, nor claims to bc, os far as we bow, in any sense, AntiSlavwij. It recommends pntting ofT a disoussion about Prcsidential chndidates, just for n year ór two! It has good reasons for this advice, no doubt. The lawyers of,MarshalI, in this State, have decided that "all personal property, exempt by law, from sale on exrcution, (by the late exemption law,) is also exempt, by our Statute from taxation," The Connty Clerk has given notice to this effect to the town assessors of Calhonn County. Tliis exposition of the law will cause the great burelen of sftcation to fall upon owners of real estáte.
