Agrecable to ndjournment. the citizons oi Ann Arbor met at the Court House on Tiiesday the 2th inst., at 7 o'clock. P. M., for the purpose f henring the report of the committee appointed at the previ)U3 meeting, to tnke into co'-.si'leraion the propriety of consolida'ing the 4th school district in upper town. into one. Col. G W. .lewett, Chaiiman, presented the report of the majority of the committee, averse to the piopnsition of consoli(iation. The niinoriiy report beinii cnlled for, Doet. Dentón read to the meeting a long. lucil and well drawn up document composed of pith anJ point. carrying whh him nearly the entire sense of the ■neeting. On motion. the minority report with the resolutions appended. were adopted unanimously as the sense of the meeting The preamble and resolutions are in the following words: Whereas we deern it wrong for any commonwenlth or community to withhold the menns of eduention from any child of that co nmonwealth. and whcrefisexpcnence hasabundnntly provud ihai no practicable suheme of education can prosjier. but one. based in the main. on the public expense, and whereas our own State has acted from these enlighteiie'l and parentnl truths for the last fifteen ye;trs. and we have hitherto neglected the wise provisione of the Statute. therefore, Resolved, That the citizens of Ann Arbor. without further delay. should give a practical operation to the law of basing our se hools on taation. ns far as the statute permits. Resolved. That we deern four districts too many for the upper villnge of Ann Arbor. Res-Ived, That when this meeting adjourns. it adjourns to meet at this plnce, three weeks from to niglr,, to decide whether we will have one or two districts. Resolved, That the above resolutions, with the d.iings of the meeting, be published in the three village papers. On motion the meeting adjourned.
