The Correspondent of the Tribune' writes concerning taxes in Michigan: "The sale öf land for taxes vill take place, comrnencing on the first Manday in' August next, at the county seats of the different counlit-B of tne aune. Nearly 3,0000d0 acres upon which the taxes of 18S8 have not been paid, will be brought into market, and will without doubt be sold for a merè trifle'. The sales will be absolute and barrftïg of right of redemption by the owner of the land. The following resolution vvaa adopted unanimousty by the board of Aldermen of the city of Portland : Resolved, That the public good does not require the sale of intoxicating drink in the city of Portland the erisuing year; and this Board ('eem it unnecessary to grant any licenses for this purpose. Taverns were licensed, but with the restriction that they should not be allowéd to sell intoxicating drmks.
