A correspondent of the N. Y. Tribune, a influential party paper, liol!s the followin0 lanuage. JÜH clown the ultraism o the Abolitionists is, for thosc who possess, o think they possess, moreprudcncc and wisdom tü lale hoW, in os , of the work which the AboJitioiiiets are endeavoring to do, and 1 whicb, (to use the language of the Bostoi Courier,) they "must at least bc cominendec tothe good wjef BFhe wor'f" Evory bo- dy knovvs that Slavery is rui cvil, which blight the prosperity of tiiewhole country ; and whj can we not all ngree to imite our excrlions lo put it away by alplegal and Con6titutiona ■ome persons, whose premoro thnn a mutch for their candor, may nccuse me of being an Abolitionist. Very well. If to believe sincerely the great principie which lies at the foundation of our free institutiions, that "all men are created equal' and desire heartily that Hiberty may beproclaimed tbrouphout all the land toa! the inhabitants thereof," without any mental reservation, or qualification whatever, constitutes me an aboluionist, then I must admii that I am one; and may God tor bid that 1 ehould be any thing else. If we have not the courage to say as much as this - to express, without a cringing apology, or (in unworthy dipclaimer, those thonghts which all know to be true. let us not presume to cali ourselves free. There are eome persons who cannot control their temper when this euhject is brought to their notice. It is easy to pee that their contempt is a mere piece of aflectation. They remind me of an anecdote. A man carne home one night from town meeting nnd informed his wife that a certain neighbor had called him a liar in the presencii of the whole town. "Indeed," soid the woman, 'that was very insulting; but I hope the charge did not disturb your equinimity." - "O," said he, "I could have borne it well enough, but the raBcal provtd it !" It is the conscioueness that impopular opinions are true, that often puts men out of temper.
