Tuesday, P. M. at half past tico- Met ni Marlboro' Chapo). Rev. Elon Galusha of N. Y., made on eloquent speech on the developnients of Providencc the past year, "n so overruüing the wrath and oppodtion of slaveholders and their Northern abettors, as to rendcr the same subservient to the advanceieat of the cause of liberty, and iti èóristantiy presenting the claims of the oppressed añil bleeding slave in new and various forms to the considoration of the people." We connot do justice to this eloquent speech which took a rapid survey of the facts to Mr. Torïey, John Q. Adams, the Creóle case, Sec. &c. He also spoke on a resoíution tbat -vhile we lament that the various religious denominations and Christians bodies, in this land have not thrown all the weight of their influence into the scale of emancipation, it is n matter of rejoicing that so large a number of individual churches, associationsj and conferences, have, during the past year, taken the nöble stand of openly rebukmg slavery as a heiñous sin against God, and withdrawing' Christian fellowship from skveholders; and that their number is rapidly increasing-; and we earnestly hope that this process of purification will continue uritil the stain of oppression sliall be wipcd frem every Christian associaf ion in the country." Wliile thiá was undèr discussion, seveval interesting anecdotos were related by Rev. C. VV. Denison, Dr. Osgood and Rev. Mr. Trask.
