. At a meeting of the Abolitionists of Lenawee county, convened nt the Court House n Adrián, on Thursday, August, 18, 1842, Henry Tripp was called to the chair, and L. P. Perkins was appointed Sccretary, when it was Resolved, That a committee of five be appointed to present the names of candidatss for nomination. Whereupon, on motion, Paul Tabor, J. H. Parker, D. Carpentcr, C. Philbrook. and J. S. Dixon, werc oppointed said committee. Thocommiitee retired,aná thefollowing names were soon after reponed and unanimously adopted liy the Convention. For Rcprescntatitcs. - Thomas Tabor, ofAdrian, Stephen Allen, ofMadison, Henrick Willey, of Blissfield, and John M. Coe, of Rome. For Sheriff. - Guy Carpenter, of Blissfield. For County Clerk.-Vaul Tabor, of Adnan. For Register of Decds. - Samuel F. Benjamin, of Rome. For Trcasvrer. - Jesse Treadwell, of Madison. For County Surticyor. - George L. Crane, of Madison.For Coroncr, - Elijah Linnel. of Madison. On motion, L. P. Perkins, C. Philbrook, and J. L. Peters, were appointed a county corresponding committee, with power to appoint such township committees as they sbould think proper and also to nominale candidates in case any shoulci refusc to have their namos come beíore the people. that wcra nominated at this Convention. On motion, Stephen Allen, T. J. Ludlow and Jesse Gaveti, were appointed delegates tö meet n a Senatorial Convention at such time and place as sha 11 hereafter be designated by the Senatorial Committee. On motioD, a commitloe consisting offive persons vrcre appointed to draft rcsolutions expressive of the views of the Convention. VVhereupon, S. F. Benjamin, L. P. Perkins, William W. Wolcott, J, M. Barro ws, and J. L. 'eters, were appointed said committee. The committee retircd and soon after the folowing were presented and unanimously adoptcd )y the convention:Resolved, That political abolition is simply an ppücation and carrying out of the fust princijlcs of democracy that all men are created (ree nd equal and endowed by their Creator with ertain inalienable rights such as life. liberty and ie privilege of pursüing happinegs. Resolved, That slavery is a national evi and national sin, and that vvo are callcd upon as a aiion to remove it. Resolccd, That political abolittonfsm and the rinciples of the liberty party commend themelves to all the friends of humanity who believe ïat faith should be manifest bv works.Resolved, That as slavery is the creaturc o Qw, that legislative action is the only proper waj f removing it. Resolved, That ns Congress has excluaive legislativo power in the District of Columbio, they unquestionably have ilie power to aboiisli siavery iherein. Resolved, That anti-slavery action iíf the npplication offirst principies of Christianity to the snormoussin of slnvery. Resolved, Thnt the Adrián Watch-Tower. Michigan Whig-, and the Signal of Liberty be reijucstcd to pubüsh the proceedings of this convention, signed by thc Chairman and Secretary. On motion, theconveniion adjourned, sine dio.
