-Thecent meeting of the Board ut Norwich, Conn. was fully attended Certain memorials on the relation of the Board to slavery were referred to a committee, who reported substanstantially that as a matter of abstract principie it is that of o relation to slavery that can imply approbation- as a matter of practice, it has "no connection or sympalhy with it"- as a matter of general opinión and feeling it is to be considered as one of the obvious evils which exist in the commimity, and itB removal is to be regarded as an object of fervent desire and prayer. As a matter of general policy, itis to be considered like intemperance, licenüousnesss, Indian oppression, and other bindrances to the progresa of Christianity. Ifthe board has at any time expressed opimons relative to immoralities or evils of any tina, prevailin gin this country, not direct ly counteract ing the labore of the misfionaries, such is now declared to be "a departure from the great principies on which the board was organized, and by which its proceedings shouldalways be governed." Consequently all such action is uow recalled. The committee reported that the secretaries of the boa)d had written to Rev. Mr. Wilson, a missionary who holds slaves, to inquire into the circumstances, and the committee think he will emancípate them as soon ps possible. It was not known to the committee that any other missionary held slaves. As to the methods the Prudential committee are pursuing to procure funds, they know of notlnng exceptionable, ond it may fairly be presumed that that the funds contributed to the treasury aro obtained in a proper manner, and given from proper motives. These are declared to be the settled principies of the board, and if any are eo diseatiefied that they deem it their duty topromote the spread of tho gospel through some otlier channels, the board do not wish lo curtailtheir liberty.
