-TKe annexedoJutions were adopted unanimously by both branches of the Verrnont Legislature: Resolved, by the Senate and House of Hen, rcsentatives, r 1. That as the Representaties of the peo pie of the State of Vermom, we do protest against the admissipfl into the Union, of any btutewhose cónètitution tolérales domestic slavery, or the annexation of Texas, or anv other Terntory, in which slavery exists 2. TJiat we believe that Congress have the power, by the constitution of the United States, to abolish sfaverv and the slave tmde in the District of Columbia, and in the Terrí tones of the United States: and that f Congress refuse to abolish slavety in the District ot Columbia, that the seat of General eovernment ought to be removed from that Dis 3. That we believe Congress has constitutional power to prohibit the slave trade between the several States in this Union, and to make such laws as shall effectually prevent thie trade, and ought to exercise Ibis power. 4. That the Constitution of the United States ought fo be atended, so as to prevent the existence and maintenance of slavery in the United States in any form or manner 5.
