The N. Y. Com. Advoitiser has ahvaysjecred the folly of thoso who" tliought they could bring up the Liberty party so far above contempt as to uceure the public attention to its claims, In aa artiele, Nov. 19, on the causes of the defeat of tho Whigs, after reeurring to othcr reasons, it proceeds: "However much we may reiet to find this spirit [anti-slavery] mixing itself wiih the politics of the country - and the whole course of this journal shows that none more regret it tlian oursdves- it is ncedlcss to disguise the fact, that this new ingrediënt if henco-foiward to form onc of tho elctnents of our Piesklentinl controversies. and wise men will prepare io govern themselves accordingly. It is to the spirit of Sla very, a.d THE INDEPENDENT P0L1T1CAL ACTION of that party, that wc have to attritmte the loss to tho Whigs of the great State of Ohio. In the State uf New York, the Aboliüaii party coinmands strength cnough to deleat nny "Wlug candidato who is a holder ofslaves. It is owmg to the samo spirit, and the SAME ACTION OV THAT SPI ÍIIT, that we havo not carricd the State of Massaehuseta." 'This new ingrediënt will form onc of the olments of our Presidcntial controversies, and wise men will prepare to govern themselves accordingly." This is wcll said. It is conceded that the Whigs have lost three large States to begin with. We shall see who will be "wise."
