According to previous notice, a few i of the friends of Liberty ar.d equal rights con vened at a school house near the center oF the Town, and made a Liberty nomimlion forthe town election. Messrs. Timotliy Bancrofi Goo. S. Haight, and Jabez Cady, were appointed a Town Couimittee to correspond j with the counly committee. The followinij resolulions were adopted bj' the meeting: Rrsolved, Tliat the more we becomc acquainted with the evils of" Slavery in our country, the grealer is the demand for our exertions to check its influencc Resolved, That we wou Ui rejice in everv strp that has boen or wo;ild be taken towards the remova) of that vilesl of systems, the poison of wliich so uuiversally overspreads and governs our country, yet we thjnk ihata Slavery party, such as tho Locofoco, or a Proslavery party, such as the W!iio, wil] not nccomplish our desircd object wlale hcadod by Slaveholders. Thercfore Reíolved, That while our brethren in the canse ofemancipalion liavedeclared themselves absolved f rum the two political parlies of the day, and hive catablisjied a separate oiganization, the best adapled to the advancement of the Anti Slavery cause, we fee! it our duty to Lro with them. Resolved, That we cannot bc lurned aude by the frowns of the one, or the stniles of the other to aid 'm any action that shall not be subeervient to our cause. Resolved, That we will pursue every Jawfi?l means in our power to remove frorn our country every vestire of the poiluling stain of slavery and opptession.
