We tlicrefore make solemn appeal to the candid voters of the town of AJadison, f the principies which impel us io nel thue, are not correct - principies thnt are founded in justice - principies too, wliich we have had under thorough and mature deliberation. We have couited the cost of ench nction; and ae philanthropists, as christain?, and as lovers ol our country, find there is no cbenper course. In absolving ourselves from the ranks of the old purties, we have nol been blind or deaf to the principies of reason. We have feit in common with other men, that party lies of long duration bind with gigantic slrength. Wealsofeel that neither of theold poliiical mrties, are acting upon the principies which Washington, JefFeison and Franklin, were roud to promúlgate to the naiions of the earth. We therefore cali upon all, both whigs and democrats, to take this subject into consideration; view it wilh unpirjudiced and candid ditscrimination; ihat it involves the principies of inalienable rights, with which nll mankind are endowed by their crealor. We cali in an especial manner upon the followers of our Savior, to tnke the matter into consideratinn, and see ïf voting for pro-slavery men accords with the pu;e principies of Christianity.
