Neeessity, however, compels me to say, that in consequence of protracted illnesa, from which 1 have not yet recovered, and the deaih of a brother, who has usually attended to business in my absence, it will be impoBsible for me to meet my engagements. On our first page will be found a caJl for Convention of the colered freemen of this State, to meet in Detroit on the 26th of October. We hope they will have a spirited, energelic meeting, which will accompllsh much for their elevation, and the recovery of their rignts. For it depends on themselvee, as the committee have truly stated. The day when much can be gained for freedom by j)hyñcal forcé is passing away. Intellectual and moral quaJities alone can elévate, and just in "proportion as these predomínale, other thiogs being equal, the individual will be respected, and eEteemed. Ol?8 We havo forwarded 300 extras containing the doings of the National Convention to S. D. Treadwell at Jackson. We have more at the office.
