At. a Convent on of' Delegates from the severa] towns, held pursuant to notice, at tlie house of Johnson Montgomery, in the township of Eaton Rapids, on '1 uesday the 3d inst., the convention was called to order hy appointing David Burr, Chainnan, and R. G. Ilaywood socretary. On motion, the Convcnlion proceeded to ballot for ítepreseutniive to be supported in November next to the State Leg'slature. On counting the voteF, Alvau h. Armstroisg wos unonirnously nominated. On motlon, a commiltee of six was chosen to draft resoltitions, consistnp of David Barr, J. Montiromerv, J. S. Fifiefd, A. L. Arm8trong, S. S. Bly nnd R. G. Hnywood, who reported the following resolutions: Resolved, Th at every man who votes otherwise than the Liberty ticket is in fact p]ac'wg himself in slavery to Southern nabobs. Resolved, TJiat we most deeply sympathi-íc with our cnlored brethren of this State who are deprived of the right of suñrage, except upon a condition inconsistent with the dignity of mankind, aristocratie in its nature and de - grading in its inflaence, and that we pledge ourselvesto lliem to relax our efforta nota whit until their equblity is acknowledged.Resolved, That the physical enslavement of our bretliren nt the South is in so great a dcgree dependent upon and supported by the reli{,'ious slavery, or eectarinntetn of the United States, that there is delusion in the hope of t he abolition üf the former without the destruction of the latter. Resolved, That it is our decided convicüon that the Churches of the United States are the "Biilvvark of American Slaery,'1 and we most earnestly cali upon ministers nnd rnembers, to give the subject a deep and thorouyh invesrigütion, and join with the friends of freedom in onergetic efforts for i:s itnmediate overthrow. Resolved, That we believe it s as inconsistent to vote for slavery as to pray for it. Resolved, That the proceedings of the Convent ion be signad by the Chairman anti Secretary nnd published in the Signal of Lib erty. On motion, the Convent ion adjourned.
