The Liberty party having aseembled at the house of Jesse Button, in the villaje of Joneaville, on the 5th day of October, according toprevious notice given by the chahrnan of the county committee, through the Signal of Liberty, for the purpose of nominating suitable men as candidates for Representatives to the State Legislatura. On mo.'ion Lemuel Long, Of Litchfield, wascalled to the chair, and David C. FulJerr of Adams, was appointed Secrelary, On motion, Lyman Peask, of Wheallandr and William Sa vage, of Litehfieldr vere de-r clared duly nominated for Representaiives. On motion, Lemuel Long, and Harvey Smith of Litchfield, and Wm. D. Moore of Adams, were appointed u connty correspond- ing committee for the ensuing year. On motion, Wm. Savage, of Litchfield,. David C. Fuller, of Adanier Lyman Pease of Wheatland, were appointed delégate to attend the Senatorial Conventie at Agrian om the 7th inst. with power to appoint eubstitutes. The following preambïe and resolutiona were introduced and adopted: by the coavention: Whereas, Slavery as it exists in the United" States, is a violation of every principie ofrepiiblicanism-ihe faking away from a portion of the human family, their natural rjghts, given them by their Creator - and is a heinoua sin against the Creater of the EJniverse: And as Skvery is the creature of the law, and connot exist only by positive municipal law; and as slavery does rxist in the District of Columbia, and in the under tbe immediate control and legislation of onr repvblican Congress, and as they have taken no measures for its removaJ, but means for ts support, Rosolved, therefore, Thai ever? friend of Liberty and of the down-trodden and oppressed of our land should nse the means at the ballot box, as the only potent and efficiënt measure for its speedy and final overthrow. Resolved, That we cordially and earnestly recommend Ltman Pease and Wm. Savagb to the electors of Hillsdale County; as men worthy of iheir support at the ballot box, at the November elecJon. Resolved, Tlmt the proocedings of tbis Convention, be signed by the Chairman, and Secreta ry, and sent to the Signal of Liberty for publication.
