The Washington Correspondent of the Albany Patriot says that the new duties on Sugar have raised its price, all over the country. The price in New Orleans has been rising 8.11 the season. This has raised a new demand for slaves all over the sugar country, and induced more persons lo go into cultivation. Henee the demand for slaves, in the Great National Slave mart, has been increased. Last year, not over 2,000 human cattle were sold in Washington. "This year, over 5,000 have already been sold in our dens of diabolism. and many more heart-strings will be broken before the winter sets in, by sunderingall the ties of of life lo meet the demand for human victima in the Louisiana market. In Florida, also, the demand has been greatly increased by the diabolical law to ':encourage the armed settlement of" that slavery cursed territory. and thus increase the political weight of ttíe Slave System in the councils of our country. "Scènes have taken place in Washington this summer, that would make the devil blush through the darkness of the pit, if he had been caught in them. A fortnight ago lastTuesday.no less than SIXTY HUMAN BEINGS, were carried right by the Capítol yard to a Slave Ship! The men were chainedin couples and fastened to a long chain as it ia common in this región. The woraen walked by thcir side. The little children. were carried along in Magons." Such a trade our Northern whigs and !emocrats countenance by their votes!- Still, ihey say, ''-we are as much opposed o it asany body." The writer adds, "Oh, your northern Christrans may sanction and uphold all líese atrocious deeds by their votes: and t will 'viólate the Sabbath' to wam them o repent of such enormitics, and break lieir own vote-made yokes from off thei?
