At the meeting of the Legi.-l iture the votes for Governor were canvassed witii the folluwing results: Mattocks (Whig) 24,4G5 Kellogg; (Dem.) 21,982 Williams (Liberty) 3;7G7 Scatteiing 21 Majority ogainst Mattocks 1,034 Judge Maltocks was then elccted Governor by 20 majority, of both ljouses. Theseven Liberty members voted fur Williams. The editor of the Stëiïbëhyiile Herald quo ted Mr. Mattocks against the Liberty men in Washington co. Ohio. He snys: "Th e argument wliich lie adduces in justification or in extcnuation, if you will, of his courso. if conchisive in convincing theVemont abolitionisfs, should have cqual weight with them in Washington county." We hope they muy have "eqoal weight,'" for so conclusive were they in Vormont, Uint Uie Liberty vote went up from lees than 2000 toabout 3,600.
