The Boston Seriipétresses. - The Unitei benevolent Associatioti of Lndiep, cotnposet orincipally of eeinpstresses, continúo to holt frrquènt meetings in the city of Boston. The nmnbpr of feniales ènrolled is aboot 1000. - The meetings aré numerously aiteiïded anc well ronducted. The facls developed show jreat orpression on tlte part of emp!ó}érs, anc tnuch sufifering by these poór femnles. From the accounts given in the Post, wé select a few specimens, wbich will give a fáir view of the gross njuslicc and obuse experiëncet by this worthy class of operatives who have bfen cömpelled by poverty trad destitution to submit to any terms imposed by their bard hearted task masters. The btatement8 bèiow are well attested, and will excite no other emotiin than mir.gled pity St indignation- they are siifiiciently disgraceful to a city claiming so distinguished a éha of benevolencê, religión, and moral ity, as does the'city of Botton, and designated by pions people as the head qnarters of New Eng land effims to ame)iorate the sufiering condition of the human race. At a late meeting, numbering about 300 'emnles, the following éspecral facls u-ere statec to the meeting ! One third prespnt worked for orders, L0 pairs of overíiaul pants with pockets and buttons down the side, were taken for ten cents per piir. The employer deducted two cenrs a piir for cash, when he paid for the job, being a dedïictioriof 40 cents on O2. 20 cents to bé paid for Ine pnnts, the' maker findmg tape; but the pay refused b'ecause she had not found strupsf. 8 cents to be paid for pants witli two pockets in them, but the pay refused becausé the maker put no puffin the back. 4 cents paid for onder shirts by severa). So me were paid off at tfae eni o f the week wholly in caíts, which the employers purchased at rhe toll bridges at the rate of 105 for $1. Tb some who had complained of the pnces, employers liad answered - "If you cant live as yoj wnnt on the prices tha t I pay, yov kaow therc are loases ivhere you can go and ice?' (Meaning the houses of ill femó.) One woinan had to make oilcd jackets for sixteen cents a piece. Anotherwas refused work becanse she vvouM not tako 6lop shirts nt four cents apiece, and find the cotton and buttons. Several had worked on fknnel chirle, with binding round the neck, for 8 cents. Ten would be a good weeks work - 80 cts workng from 6 lili 9." ín connection with these facts, it will doubtless be recollected that a few months ago it was pompously announced in the papers of the day, that a masler tailor in Boson had bought a building lot at auction for he 6iim of $90,000 and paid for it on the spot by a check on the bank for the money: and it was furlher stated that he was also the owner of many other pareéis of real estáte, all of which were the result of a few yen rs apilication to hls profession. - Maine Jigt. Dcspalch.- The rapidity of communication between this country ond Englund, and the 8urprÍ8ng expedition with vvhich 8n order can e cxecuied, have recently been teated by the Messrs. Chester of Broadwoy, who forwurded fn order to Kidderminster, in the month of June last, for 1200 yards of Brussels carpeting, to he of one patlem; the whole of which was manufactured in fifly davs. Two boles arrived ín the Gnrrick and two in thp Oxford, and the wlinlr will be pvt together and spread vpon thejloor of the House oj Rept esentatives at Washington, within four rnonthsThe streets of London are now all swept by machinery.
