Jan. 3- At Dexter, Washtenaw co.,Mich., after a short illness, Mary E., wife of Win. R. Sturgeg, anddaughter of Major Jedediah Hunt, lale of Candor Tioga co., N. Y., aged 22 years and 6 months. Sister Sturgea experienced religión in the full of 1841, in Candor, Tioga county, N. Y., and united with the M. E. Church. She with her husbnnd emigrated to Michigan in the fall of 184S, atid took up their residence inthis' place, where they rernained only ebout three months before she was called, as we humbly trust, where sickne9S nnd sufféring are unknown. She vvas almost a stranger iñ a 6trange land; yet none who had the opportunity of forming even a slight acquaintance with her could btit admire and esteem ber as a person of exalted worth. Her patience and fortitude under her extreme saffering could scarcely meet with a parallel. She had but littlë bopesof recovery from the first of her sickness. Nothing seemed to bind her affections o earth but her beloved companion. - This was á bond which could not be severed without a severe trial of her faith; but for this God was preparing her, and she became resigned to his will in this also. She could converse but little during the Jatter part of her sickness, on account of extreme bodily exhau8tion, but ber mind was calmly stayed upon God. Her thoughts, when she waa able to converse, were engaged about the welfare of her soul. Thus died our beloved sister. She has lefta world of orro,v, no doubt, for one of joy. May God ssnctify this dispensation of his providence to the everjasting good of ber bereaved companion and all her friends.
