the Natiye American party in New York, the fonner going over to the latter almost in a bodyj ï'énders it qujle probable that the whigs, aftcr one or more defeats, will go over to tho abolitionists, if the latter continue to rnaintoin their independent politica 1 organization. First the whigs went over to Antimasonry, now they have coalesced with Native Americanism, and next they will go over to Abolitionïsm - thát is, if abolitionism does not come to whggery. We find the above equivocal article in the Free Press. We do not prize very higlily the "encouragemenl" here oflered to us. We do not wísh for the Native American or Wliig party to unite with us, any more than we do the Democratie party. We should deprécate a unión with any party as the greatest calamity that coold befal us. We are now organized on riglit principies, and we intend to pursue our course without deviation, without "going over" to any other party, or permitting any other party, as such, to come over to us. We want no accessions to our numbers but as individuals, and these whenthey come, must come not as Whigs, Democrats, or Native Americans, but as Liberty tnen. As such, they will .be cordially received. Politicians who think we can be ensnared and swallowed up by a unión or compromise with other parties or factions, will ultimately find their mistake.
