The Liberty Party of theFrst Congressional District met in Convention at Ann Arbor, on Tuesday, Apiil SO, 1844. Thomas Hoskins, of Waahtenaw, was called to the Chair, and L. P. Perkins, of Lenawee, was appoint ed Secretary. J. P. Weeks, of Washtenaw, waanppointed a comraittee o report a roll of delegates. On motion, it waa resolved, thnt all Liberty men present be invited to take 6cats wilh the Convention and participate in the proceedings. The Convention then proceeded to a noinination for cnndidate for Reprefientative to Congress, and ofter two ballotings, on motion of L. P. Perkin?, of Iienawee, CHARLES II. STEWART, was unanimoasly nominated for that office. The following gentlemen were appoint ed a District Committee for the ensuing year: C. H. Stewart, of Wayne. C. J. Garland, of Waslitcnaw. Sabi.v Pelch, " Th Convention was addresseá by Messrs. S. W. F.8ler and Weeks, of Washtenaw, Perkins, of Lenawee, Bradley, of Wayne, and other gentlemen. The Convention then adjourned.
