Fourth Senatorial District
At a meeting oà Delégales of the Lib erty party, convened ogreeably to pre vious notice, at Battle Creek, June 12lh 1844, Ão nomÃnate a candidate to be sup ported, for a Senator in this District, Erastus Hussey of Calhoun, was called lo the Chair, and L. Wilcox, of Jackson, appointed Secretary. On motion, Resolved, That all Liberty raen present, belonging to ibis District, be invited to act as Delegates. The meeting then proceeded to an infsrmal ballot for a person to represent this District in the Senate of this State ; whenS. B. Treadwell received 33 votes. Erastus Hussey " 17 ; R. B. Bement " 1 " On tnotioD, Resolved, That Sey.mour B. Treadwell, of Jackson, be unanimously declared to be nominated as a suitable candidate tobe supported for a Senator, for the Fourth Senatorial District in this State. On motion, Resolved, That a Committee of five be appointed by the Chair, as a suitable Committee for the ensuing year, and the following persons were appointed r John Marris, Battle Creek. S. VV. Dodge, " Samuel Nicholl, " Dudley N. Bushnell, " L. Wilcox, Jackson, The Convention then adjourned.
