The Democratie papers are parading a long catalogue of names of those who have forsaken the W'hïgs, and joined their party, ehiefly on the ground of Annexation. Whig papers are ptfblishing all the cases íhey can muster of Denrocrats vhcr have renótmeed their party, and tiirned Whigs, principally because the Democratie party arcfor Annexalion. - We were well aware that if this were made the test, there would be considera.ble changes in all paris of the Union. Eflbrts are now raaking by the Whigs to induce a portion of the Liberty men to forsake their noble cause, and onóe rnore join themselves to the oídtion that they liad forsaken. Tliat some will be seduced ly their special pleáding tp do so, is probable; but it should only quicken the zeal of those who remain. - As the election draws nearer, many storiesof the renunciations of Liberty men will be put in circulation, and retailed from mouth to mouth, to shake the unstable, ani beguila the unwary. Many of these siories will be false; but the places of those who may leave us will far more than.be made good by those who will determine to cast their votes for the first time far the only one offour Presrdential candidates who is not a Slayeholder.- We have referred to the subject thus early, not to prepare the way for the politilitical apostacy ofany, but to take measures for its prevention, and Liberty men. by being thus forewarned, need not be taken by.surprise by floating and often exaggerated reports. In an election like the present, it is to expected that chajiges will take place - lhat some will leave us, while others will join our ranks. Now that we are fully -satisfied that we are right, our business should bc to go ahead!
