The following resolution, adopted at the Liberty Convention of the State of Maine, exhibits the genuine Liberty principies. We are not to be turned away "rom our object by any half issues, nor any false issues. Read it twice attenvely. It conlains much in a little space: "Resolved, Thnt we wish it to be distinctly undersfood; that, as a political party, we are organized, exclusively, as an Anli-Slavery party - -and not as an AntiTexas party, nor as a party to sustain the right of Petition - questions which may be held in common with other parties, with or without opposition to Slavery; and that we are not to be turned aside 'rom our one great purpose, by any false ssues, or by any half issues; and while we abhor the scheme of Texas annexation, yet we are not blind to the possibility that this same iniquitous scheme, if successful in spite of our earnest remonstrances, may, in the providence of God, )e overruled for the more speedy downfan of Slavery, by arousing the north, & ilacing slavery in Texas, as well as in his Country, within the reach of our agtation and influence; and that we are not )repared, either to vote for bad men, or whh profl;g:te parties, to prevent it; but are content to do right, os leave residís lo hat God who turned the wicked plot of Haman to his own destruction, and respoiisibility to those who are sold to slavery, and opposed to the glorious objects of our Liberty organization.05 Major Noah, the veteran Editor of the N.
