The Maas meeting held in this place on Wednesday last exceeded any Liberty meeting ever held in the State, in numbers, spirit and interest. The day was delightful, the roads in good order, and the attendance must have been pleasant as well ns profitable to all. The forenoon meeting was held in the Court House square, nnd was addressed with great acceptance by Dr. Brment. ïn the afternoon, the meeting was oommencerl h the Court House, but as considerable numbers coold not get into it, the whole a6sembly adjourned to the open air, where they were addressed by Hbnrt Bibb, a fugitive from Slavery, almost white. He gave a nnrative of his history as a alave, which was listened to with the deepest attention by all sorts of hearers. ín the evening, Messrs. Stbwaut and Halx.ock, of Detroit, Haríuson of Jackson, Bemest of Calhoun, Ripi.Br, of Mausham., and Mr. Bibb, successively addressed the meeting on a wide rango of subjects. Dr. Be&irnt contrasted the appenrance of that densely crowded house, filled with enthusiastic, ond nppiauding hearers, with tg prospecte of our Eaiue when the State Society was formed in this vil lago in 1830; and the Con vent ion did not then sit in the evening, because the trustees of the Presbytcrian Church were fcarful a mob might injure their building! Times had changed. We were hoppy to see many of our Whig and DeiT'ocratic neighbors present, and nttentively listening to antislavery truths. We noticed a number of prominent politicians, appnrenlly waJching the demon8trations befare them with about the 6ame interest the boy doea the progrpss of his chip wben floating down the stream. They were tneasuring the force of the antislavery current ! The meeting will do much good. it fulfilIed the expectations of a'.l in reference to numbers, ability and interest. We shall give the official proccedings next week.
