Wè have gathered from our exchaneea the following pnrticulars of the disaster of the great gale on Lake Erie on tha night of the 18th instant. The Buffalo Courier says: "About half past eleven o'clock last evening a gale commenced blowing from the southwest which for violence and dovastating effect we scarcely recollect a parallel. Knowing the anxiety to get the particulars of the disaster we have issued this extra with such particulars as wo have at first been able to gain- we shall issue another extra this afternoon with further particulars. The Iron U. S. SteameV waa dríven up on the beach high and dry ner the old Stone House. The steamboats St. Louis, Fulton, and Julia Palmer left last evening. Tho St. Louis was driven back, and ran down to Black Rock harbor with safety. Tho Julio Palmer, afler making streng effbrf to makO our harfcor, sheered off about 7 o' clock this morningand stood up the lakej her upper deck appeared to have been carried away, and her railing and gangways destroyed, The Com. Perry came in about 12 o'clock last night in a most sbattered condition- her wheelhouse being smashod in - nnd the boai almosta cripple - in coming in, she ran into the Great Westorn knocking a man overboard in the collision, who was supposed to bc losl - thon she ran hor bowsprit through the side of the Waync - whero she remained fnsten ed. The steamboat Chautauquo lies ashors on her beam ends, near Black Rock. The brig Europe came in about oné o'clock last evening, when the storm was at its height - with the loss of her forO. topmast, and her saus considerably injured. She ran her bowsprit plump into tho warehouso of Joy 6c Webster. The stenmboat Emerald had her smoke pipe blown ofTand demolished.Three Canal boats and n scow boat were driven out of the harbor into thé river by the force óf the cuirent tlüs morníng. The Canal bonts were drive up on the beneh and the persons on board thussaved, tho scow boat with three per sons on board went ta pieces and all au board perished. The nmount of damage done to tho steninboats and vessels in the harbor is very large, and the injuries to the harbor and docks is also great. Indeed wo do not recollect thrvt Bufïulo has ever been visited with a galo, the consequences of which have been so disnstrous to 1 i fe and property. The dead bodies of five children and one woman are now lying at the Watch House, ten bodies at the Court House, five bodies at a house on tho flats. A new two1 story Duilding corner of iWash'ingTon' and exchange streets, jusC about to be closed,was completely blown! down and remains a heap of ruina.The new part of tbe Housb, although in an sustained but little injury.The brick store corner of Soüth-Division and" Main streets, was partly unroqfeo, and a great part of the third story was, blown down - no oneinjured. A brick house on South-Division street owhëd.by James Dubois, and nearly fin- ished, was partly blown down and vory much injured.The cottage, owned by N. Dayton,. next door, was also much damaged'by th'o falling of Mr. Dubois' house, the roof stove in, &c.
