The Niles Republican, a Democratie paper has "one word seriously to Abolitionists" vvhich we transcribe as follows: "To the abolitionists we wish to say one word seriously. You have no cause to be alarmed at the tremendous avalanche of abuse poured out upon you by whig prints. These prints in the first place endeavored to llatteryou into the support ofClay. In the second place they began to threateñ you; thirdl y they belied your leader to deceive you. and now, fourthlv and lastly they denounce you as hypocrites and cast you out ibrever. lt all amounts to just this: An entering wedge to your union with the wbigs, which they desire to accomplish before another four years roll away. And we predict such union will be accomplished. Tliëy will make overtures to you and you will to them and form a union. The whigs will change their name and unite also with them the iSative American party and yoa will aiigoby the name of 'American Republican party,' or "American Repubücan Liberty party." Thus. all combined, you will get satisfactory pledges from Daniel Webster or General Scott, and run one of them in 1848 for President. - This will be the combination formed, and what the democracy wijl have to cemtend jvith and overthrow in 1848.:' We take the Editor's advicè as he givesit - 'seriously' - but must take leave to teil him he has altogether tnisiaken the matter. The positioB of the Whigs and Liberty men is such that no possible unión can take place bef ween the parties. The courtship we have recéived from the Whigs for the last six months, and their present mode of naying theiraddresses to us, are not of a nature calculated to secure our nffections. Besides, the Native American doctrines are fundamentally opposed to those of the Liberty party. It is but another name for white slavery-- the same in principie with that advocated by the southern slaveholder, though less in the extent of its enormity.(HTho Genesee County Democrat, the Whig paper at Flint, sttys: " 'Do you hurrnh for the Native American party ï said a Whig friend to us the other morning, and we hardly knevv what reply to make him. But late disclosures have led us fo a more particular exarnination into the principies of the Native American party, and we do not hesitate to declare boldíy that ree endorse the principies for whick that -party are cont endino." Thirs the Flint and Ponfinc Whig papers are fairly out for Nativeism. The Detroit Advertiser holds back, for the present, as it was strongly committed ngainst the schemè "before election. But f rom what we ïcnow of the feeling of its Detroit patrons, we do not anticípate any very decided warfare ngainst it. {L?" The State Journal says, !it is hard thai an ultra slavery eandidate (for President) should be elected by the Abolitionists." The gentleman of tbe Journal has not read the returns rightly. The Abolitionistshave been defeated! Tkeir eandidate was not elected. It was the VVhigs who tried hard to ölect "art ultra Slavery candi dalcV1
