Th is real Bemocrat was highly esieemed by. the Liberty Party of Obio, and the loss of his abie coun.;e)s will not only be feit by. iheïn biit by the Liberty party throughout. the United States:.Agreeably to public notice, the friendo of the late Thomas Morris convened on the evetiing of the 20fh inst-., at the Weslevan MeïhodisiChapel, on Ninth .slreet. The meeting vns organized by calling thé Rov. J. W. Walker to the Chair, and appointmg Hiram S. Gilmore Secreta ry. Tho fallowing and resolu tions were fhejh Oifered by Wm. Birney, seconded by H. S. Gilmore, and,, aftfer sorao remnrks ín 1heir support; were unammously adopted: Wr heren?, it has pleased an all-wise God to remove from among us, by a sudden death, our disiinguished fellow citizen, Thomas .Morris, and as it is beconring ta pa y a tribute of respect to the memory of departed pafriots vvhö have illusirated, by their virtues, the history of their couatry, Resolved, That we can never cense ta arimire the lofty & disinterested patriotism of Thomas Morris, manifes!ed as it was by a consistent public life of nearly fbrty year.s. Resolvod, Tliat posicriïy will honor him as the efficiënt Legislator, the incorruptible Judge, the able Sextalor, and, above all. the bold and conscientious advocate of Human Rights.. Resolved; That we shall cherïsh his memory because he preferred Truth toparty; Humaoity to anibition; and his country to the cmok:men!sof oífice. Resolved, That we are encouragcd bv bis noble exampío to rcnexv our efTai-ts for ihe aboliü'on ofslavery,. and will adopt for our motto the closing words of his celebrated speech on thai subject in the Federal Senate, "The rsogro shaiL yet be free." Resolvod, Thai ú cominittee of three, with power to add to their number, be now appointed to reeeive contribufions for the nnrpose of erecting at some point in Iinmilton county, a suitable monument to the memo-ry of the decensed. Resolved, That the officers of this meeting be instructed fo solicit Dr. W. H. Bnsbano to prepare an oration, to be delivered at some time convenientto himself. vhich shall embody the incidents of the public life of' Thomas Morris and commemorate his virtues. Resolved. That we tender our hearffok sympathy to ths bereaved family of the decosed. . On mo-tion, C. Donaldsoú, Samuel Lewis and Thomas lïeaton, wero appointed committee on the monument.
