Tbe WhiLs of Portage Connty, at their County Gonvention, jmssed resoUilions against Slavery, exprepeing a readiness "in all proper ways to labor fur its overthrow," and against the Black Lawa of Ohio. The Democratie Convention of the same County took the same ground, but were more explicit, and promised to do something. We iiibjoiii their resolutions. Resolved, That, in the opinión of this convention, slnverv is a national curse, a direct viulaüon ol' the absolute rjght8 of man, and a decp and odioua stain upon our national honor. Resolved, That we as Norihern freemen are in duty bound thus publicl to express our unconjpromising hostility to an institution frauglit with so much injuatice, and total dis regani of individual rights, and whicli brings sucli just reproach upon our common country.Resolved, Thai in order the more eñectually to corry ouL and put in piacticn! operaLion our principies upoti this great and important subject, we plerige ourselves and the democratie party of the coiuity, to make ure of all means consllutionally in our power to nccomplieh the abolition of skvery in the United S'.ates and their terriiories, and especially to effect the repeal of all lawa now existing in Ohio imposing any distinctions whatever bet ween llie colored and the free white poptilation of the State. At the Whig County ConvenUon in Cleve land, some antislaveï.r rrsolutions were introluced, but they were laid on the table without the least discu.sion, and the Convention imrne diately dissolved.
