We have before informcd our readers thnt this iientleman was favombly regarded by many Nonhern Whigs as their Presidential caiididate. But inany qnalifications wbjch would recommend him at thn Norih, would bc strong objections to hun at ihe South. Henee a canv.jss against him at the South is alrcady coninnjnced. A writcr in the Kichmond Whig, who signs himsell í; A Truc Whig," brings up the objection that Judge McLean has 71 abolition loife! Iñ proof of tliis grave charge, he quotes an article from ihe Cincinnatt Gazette, (the year and date nol given) by which it appenrs that the "Worpen's Anti-Slavery Society of Cincinnati" once held a meeting, and resolved, in substance, that they ought to do all they could for elevaiing the young colorcd people ae rnoral and intelligeni beings; and calling on their brethren and eistere ofcvery name and denommntion, to support colored schoola.and thereby be auxiliary "to the renioval of the sin and disgrace of Slavery from rhese Repnblican States." Also, tlial "a meeting of the American A Slavery Society oughi tobe held ir Cincinnati the present year." - These procet'dings aresigned by S. B. Garrard. President, ar.d this Mrs. Garrard is now the wife of Judgo McLean.
