The New Iampshire Patriot spoaks about "the ahe imprcssion" prevalent in the State, lat "the Democracy wereupon the side f oppression and inhumanity," and cites be nntislavery course of the Free Will 3aptists, especially of a porlion of their ministers. Says the Patriot, 'Ãn the pulpit, and by the fireside, hey have'preached abolition, rahed symmthy, excited strong feeling, and pre)ared the minds of a great number of he people tobelieve thatthey must abandon all other ihings to resisl the de-r nounced encroachments of the slave 5ower. The clergy of the other denomiïations have contributed their full share to produce this state of feeling. The influence growing out of the public, the social nnd the fire-side inclucations of opinions by the clergy, has been the most potenlial in inflicting upon ihe democratie party its recent defeot."
