jfc m. -m - - - ___ . _ _ _ w We notice that in tho Senato Mr. Howell has Dffored a resolution instructing the Judiciary commiitee to provide in the Revisión for an exemption of 400 dollars worth of real estáte to actual settler8 f-om execulion, for nll debts contracted fier the lst of Jnly 1847, provided said exemptton shall not apply to more than 40 acres of real estáte. This was subsequently modified eo as to instruct the committcc to inqulre into the expedí ency of providing, &c. and agreed to yeas 14, haya 4. The principie involved in this provisión we approve. We regard it as one of the most importnntof ihe proposcd alterations of the Statute Book. But care should be taken to make tho letails unexceptionable.
