-The Port Hurón Observersa}rs : - " A brutal outrnge was commilted upon an elderly gentleman by the name of Phelps, residing at Point Tremble, in this county, on Monday last. He was assailed about nvilight at or near his own residence, by George Lenox, armed wkh a club, and received a severe blow iipon theside of his head, fracturing his skull extensively. He died the Thursday following. It is reported that Lenox sent to Phelps requesting medicine for his horse, Phelps replied, teil him to give his horse the same medicine he is taking." To avenge this insult Lenox gave the fatal blow. Lenox has fled." The convention for revising the constitulion of the state of New York, met at Albany on monday last. and was organized by the election of John Tracey, of Chenango, formerly Lt. Governor, as President, James Starbuck and Henry W. Strong Secretarles, and Hiram Allen Sergeant-at-Arms. The officers of the conventioo all hold to what is called the barnburning portion of the democratie party, beingopposed tothegrènt of sper aal privileges to the few, which are denied to the many.
