A Mail Bag Of 1775
-The oÃder mail bag used for Hartford, Middletown nnd New Haven, isstill in existence here, huving been kept in the family of the old poslmaster, the late Mr. Hobby - Length 12 inches, width 6 f. It had a string to close it, and is not larger than a good breeches pocket. Small os it is, il would have held the letter mail which carne tothis place until the new postage went into operation in July, It is the printed and free matter which filis np the mail bags so marvellously. The great amouut of printed matter sent by mail has increaset astonishingly of Inte years, so that the old breeches pocket of 1775 would hardly be a circumstance for the free documents which are now sent in the mail bags.- Middleloum (Ct.) Constitutioiu An ottorny, about to finish a bilà of 'coste, was requested by his cliënt, a baker, "to make it as light as possible."- " Ah !â " replied the attorney, 5 that's what yöu may say toyour foremnn, but that's not the way I make my bread."
