We believe tha result of the last election in this Stnte.furnishes a key to the proslavery and antislavery feeling of the parties. lt will not be denied that all who are in any true seme antislavery in their feeling, and who were at tl e polls and voted on any question, gave their votes in favor of equal suiFrage for colored people. By this rule we may learn vhere the uarties sland. Thus it is seen that not one in five of the parties voted for free suffrage to colored people. From this it is olso seen that each party is guilly of defeaiing this measure. Suppose the Democratie partv to have cast all the votes for free suffrage, and the account with ihem will stand thus : - W hole number of votes 187,306 For free suffrage 72,461 Majo ri tv against iree suffrage 104,845 But every body knows that the Democrats did not cast all the free suffrage votes. But suppose them all to have been cast by the Whig party, and the account will stand with them thus : - Whrle nurnberof voles 193,878 For free suffroge 72,461 Mnjority against free suffrage 125,317 Thus allowing the VVhigs a]l the free suffrage votes, still this " more favorable parry" voted against the colored men, but a linie short of three to one. But every body knows that neither the Democi'ats or the VVhigs, cast all the Iree suffrage votes, and licnee both par:ies are actually worse than the above calculations sliow them to be. Will they again claim to be the friends cf the col.
