We would remind the Liberty men of .Michigan that the Annual Township Elections are near at hand, ond would wish the nquiryto circuíate among ihem, Are we preparing to mnke and cfticiently support Liberty nomiiiations 1 Let none neglect them as an un important maüer. Look all through tho nation, and see tho antilavery progrt-ss that has been made since 1831. The change in public feeling towards the fugiiive blave - the national discussions on slavery in Congress and through 1500 political papers, and theadvancing lone of public feeling, as manilested by the action of the various State Leg; sbt uros, result mainly from an adhcrencnof a small portion of the people to tho deiermination nol to vofc for prosluvery men Hnd this principie been entirely disregarded, these grand results would not have been ?een. h is through this concentratpd political action of antislavery men that the hated topic of Abolition iias been forced upou public not ice and rung in the earsoftho people till they are crying out in surprise at the charge of being proshvery - "Why we ttt tho North are all Abolitionists !" How different was the state of things formerly, when every straight forward abolitionist was denounced as a " Hmatic" and " incendiai y," and honorable Governors thought the propagation of thcir sentiments an offence indictable by common law. The plan ofvoting for Liberty at the Town Elections is a part of that syslem by which this progress has been made, and by which far more decisivo results, await us in the ruturn. Lel us persevere in its use, and vote for those men cnly who are known to be comistent supporters of universal freedom, thereby, as in former years, giving our continued and unequivocal condemnation of the greatest curse of our country.
