Troublesome
At the meeting the Evangelical Alliance lately in M ew York, "Rev. Mr. KutK spoke with great earnestness. It was a btrange thing thnt this subject of sluvel'y was introducing itself nto every meeting - was Hke the frogs of Egypt. Ncthing was put forward with such pertinacity. One was allowed todo nothitig by associated action till slavery should be removed. Could they send missionariesto the heathen? "No!" was the answer, " abolish slavery!" Could they meet for ecclesiastical purposes? " No!" again - "remove slavery!" In the pulpit, indeed, it was possible to preach on other subjec's, and in his Closet he he could prav for other blössings than ihe removnl of slavery. But it was impossible for two men to associate together for ony religious or benevolcnt purpose.but it would be thundered in iheir earS) "Just remove slavery!"
