Thepopulation of the Mexican republ.o, and its mixed character, liaving altracted tniich romark, we havo been ndueed to niake out the following statement of them, and of the names b_v vhicii thcy ure known: 1. Europcan, or uersonv of pure Spani.sh blood, not natives of ilexico powerless in a political point of view, but wealthy, though of small number. Under the Span is b governmen, anterior to to the revulution, thcy engrossed nll civil and military ónices, and generally Ihe high diguitieaof the church. 2. Criollos, or Creólos, persons of unadulterated while blood. During the revolution, these and the first class ore known as Guachupinos, and gfne.rnlly opposing the revojution, wascalled Realistoes-, or Royalists. 3. Mestizos, or half-bloods, the desoendants of the white and the aboriginal races; ttiis clasa bornprises the great niass of the population of Mexico. 4. Besides, there are numerous descendants of emigrants from the Canary Islands, with a great admixture of Moorish, not African blood, Gitanos, or Gipsey?, and itissaiJ thaton ihe Pacific coast,near Acapulo, a laige proporiion of the population have a great admixture of Malay anj Chinese blood.
