-In order righily to apprcciate the gasconnde and braggardizing of a portion of the people of this country about the bravery and the glorious victories of ourarmy in Mexico, it is well to know w'nat sort of men they have to contend with, and also their condition. Hear, therefore what Waddy Thompson of South Carolina says abnut them, - and then say whether a war ngainst them does nol rnther indicate meanness and cowardice on our part. - Lib. Press. What must be the murdeious inequality between a corps of American cavalry and an equal number of Mxicans? The American corps, from the superior size of their horses, would cover twice as much ground, and the obstruction offered by the Mexicans on their small and scra.vny ponies, would scarcely cause iheir horses to stumble in riding over them, to say nolhing of the greatest inpqnalitv of the men themselves ; fie to one nt least iu individual combats, and more than twice thnt in batile." ff?"
