Mr. Poster, 1 am híghly gratified to learn froin your editorial of last week, ihnt, like myself, vou "aro in favor of the formation oí" a Northern party of the right kind," to act in opposition to thnt orginizing by Mr. Calhoun in support of the Slave. Power. Yuu seem to agree witli me as to the necessity of such a party, but object to my "catalogue" of Presidential eandid;ites, as entirely "too libera!." To teil you the truth, I am not quite satisfied .with my own selection; but it seemed to me the best I could do under the cfrcunistances. 1 wnnted to makeoutan nssortment of nnmps taken from all parties, about an equal rwmber from each; and vvlien 1 carne to look amng ihe Whigs and Democrats, I found it necessary in order to make niy number com[lete, to take severa! who, though far from being of the right stamp, are nol reckoned as absoluttly proslavery. I will now sclec! from my "catalogue" of nnmes the two, who would be my decided chuicej ílnd I have come to the conclusión to liold on upon them until I cnn see a t bettcr nomination mnde, eiiher by Whigsor Dcmocrats or Liberty men: For Prrsident, Joshua R. Giddings; For V. Pre?., John P. Hale. I am confidentyou will agree with me hat, to think of formirg "a Northern nti-Slavery party of the right kind," outofeither Whigs, or Democrats, or liiberty men, exceedingly, would be verv unwise, ifnot utterly fulile. To make m efficiënt party - such an one as the occasion rlemand.--, it is necessary to com)ine as much of the Northern Anli-Slavery strength as possible. Henee the ropriety of taking a VVhigand a Democrat, who are both as near right as the case will admit of. Such are Messrs Giddings and Hale. The former being a vell-known Anti-SIavery Whig, and the atter an equnlly wel'-';nown Anti-Slavery Democrat; and both having made sacrifices for liberty sufficienl io entitle heir nfiines tothe respectful consideratior. of all. Let the names of Joshua R. Giddings and John P. Hale be placed at the heai! of a Norlhern, Anti-SIavery, or Antiüalhoun party, and the necessity ofa listinct Liberly organization, in contrndistinction from the old parties, would ceasb to exist. Every thing which the resent Liberty party, or the new Liberty League might expect to gain if successful, would be achieved by such a party as is now under consideration ; 'or, whoever rnight be the nominees o!' a party, it woulJ be impossible for theni to avoid committing themselves ngainsi the Shive Power, which is all that the ultrnabolitionist could do. I leave you my candidates to Ie disposed of in your own way. You can place them either on, or under the table, or in the the columns of your paper. - Wliateverdisposition you may decido to make, rest a=sured there wül be no grumo! ing by your correspondent.
