Rev. Joshua Leavitt lias retired from the editorial chair of the Emancipator. - ïlis successor is not announced. Inliisj valedictory, he says : "The time has atlength arrived for me to retire from the edilorinl chnir of the Emancipator, which I have occupied for the last ten years. The certrunty that the paper will not at present yield me an I adequate support, and the duty I owe tol my family, of beginning now at the age of fifty-three to attempt to mnke omc provisión for them and for oíd age, togetlier with the conviction that my services can now be very well spared as editor, have brought me to this conclusión without a doubt of its correctness. I do not regret the ten years of my life - probably the best ten - spent in this service, for I do not think it hns been labor in vnin. On the contrary, I see in the present commanding position of the Liberty, party, and in the vigorous progress of antislavery. feeliig in the public mind, sufficient evidenco that the effbrts in which 1 have b-rne a htimble part to edúcate n generation of people anew into the principies of freedom, are realizing a gloririous success."
